WALTERBORO, S.C. — In a tragic incident at a Walterboro Waffle House two years ago, a young man’s life was cut short. Now, justice has been served as two individuals have been sentenced for their involvement in the fatal shooting, authorities announced on Friday.

Charles Maurice Harrison Breland, aged 21, faced a jury on Thursday and was convicted of murder for the 2023 killing of Lamontre Green. Breland’s conviction marks him as the second person held accountable for Green’s untimely death.

Earlier this year, Breland’s accomplice, 22-year-old Jordin Quoleaha Glover, was found guilty of murder following a three-day trial in April.

The court has sentenced Breland to 42 years behind bars, whereas Glover received a 30-year prison term.

The sequence of events that led to Green’s death took place on February 18, 2023. He was shot a minimum of six times at the Waffle House located on Bells Highway. The incident unfolded after Breland and Green entered the establishment together and joined a table where Breland’s girlfriend, Glover, and others were present, leading to a heated disagreement.

Green was leaving when he was shot. When officers arrived, they found Green dying on the floor of the restaurant, a 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office spokesperson said.

“This brazen act of violence committed in front of a dozen witnesses shows the complete disregard for life or much of anything,” Assistant Solicitor Tameaka Legette said. “Justice has been served in these convictions and Colleton County is a safer place with these two behind bars.”

Legette prosecuted Breland and Glover. She was assisted in both cases by Investigator Denise Pinckney of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and Cpl. Charles Shipp of the Walterboro Police Department, a spokesperson said.
