2nd round of snow brings multiple inches of rain on both sides of CSRA

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – We’ve been showing you how the winter storm is impacting areas around the CSRA, and that includes right here in Augusta.

Our VIPIR-6 Alert Team is expecting 2 to 4 inches in the Garden City between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

With Richmond County Schools on an E-Learning Day Tuesday and Wednesday, kids will need to stay home.

But walking around Augusta on Tuesday evening, the best way to describe it is a “winter wonderland”.

One of the notable areas seeing the snow is Augusta National Golf Club.

We are less than 80 days from the Masters, and while grounds crews will have plenty of time to get the course in top shape, it currently has a beautiful white coating of snow.

Not too many bystanders were out in the cold temps—many choosing to stay indoors to enjoy a cup of cocoa, and watching movies by the fire.

But there were some making the most of the cold by sliding down a hill just off of Berckman’s Road.

“We were trying to rigor a way to catch up so we could slide down the hill, because we don’t have a sled. I would say we got it to work pretty well,” said Nathalie Paladinas.

“I feel like we missed out on the fun last week because Atlanta got all the snow. But now, they see that we have all the snow—and it’s actually very fun to be able to play outside for a bit,” said Stephanie Felonta.

Road conditions continue to worsen.

As GDOT and SCDOT have said, make sure you stay off the roadways tonight if you don’t need to drive, but if you do, you need to be super careful.
