WARRENVILLE, S.C. () – Authorities from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday the arrest of another teenager implicated in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Tranard Sheppard, which occurred last year.
The sheriff’s office revealed that 17-year-old Cornelius Marquel Simpkins, Jr., hailing from Beech Island, faces charges of Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. Simpkins was taken into custody on January 20, 2026, and is currently detained at the Aiken County Detention Center.
The tragic shooting took place on June 22, 2025, along Sarah Street in Warrenville.
Following Sheppard’s death, his family expressed their grief and sought answers from the community and authorities.
Earlier, in July 2025, investigators had charged another 17-year-old, Marquis Edric Robinson from North Augusta, with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime related to the same incident.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has been assisted in this case by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) 2nd Judicial Circuit Solicitors Office, ATF task force and the U.S. Marshals task force.
