In an unexpected turn of events, a man armed with multiple weapons attempted to breach security at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, where President Trump was present. The incident occurred at a Washington, D.C., hotel on Saturday evening, and the President commended law enforcement for their swift response.

As gunshots rang out around 8:30 p.m., Secret Service agents promptly escorted President Trump and other officials to safety. The shots were fired near a lobby entrance at the Washington Hilton, while the dinner was being held in a nearby ballroom.

“It’s always startling when these things occur,” President Trump remarked, referencing a previous assassination attempt on him in July 2024. “It all happened very quickly, leaving little time to think as we were ushered out within seconds,” he told reporters later.
