NEOGA, Ill. (WCIA) — A semi-trailer separated from a truck and spilled boxes of cheese on I-57 in Neoga overnight.
Just after midnight Saturday morning, the Neoga Fire Protection District and Neoga Ambulance were dispatched to a semi tractor-trailer in the median of I-57 near mile marker 178. Crews arrived to find the driver uninjured and safely out of the vehicle.
The refrigerated trailer had separated from the truck and scattered its contents across the median and into the northbound lanes. Fire personnel then worked to clear the debris and cheese boxes from the roadway, and the scene was handed off to the towing companies at 2:07 a.m.

Neoga Fire also issued a reminder for drivers that when approaching emergency vehicles with flashing lights, they are required to merge into the opposite lane when possible. If moving over is not an option, motorists must reduce their speed significantly.
“These precautions protect the safety of emergency responders, law enforcement, and tow operators working along the roadway,” Neoga Fire said on Facebook.
