ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Juliana Stratton has been in the Senate race for Dick Durbin’s seat since Thursday, and she is already touting her second endorsement from a statewide official.
Senator Tammy Duckworth endorsed Stratton’s campaign for US Senate in a video released Monday. Duckworth said in her endorsement she’s been an effective Lieutenant Governor and has shown she cares for the state’s working people.
“Her many years spent in public service, along with her experience as a mom to four daughters and a caregiver to her own mother, have given her the tenacity, grit and perspective to be a true advocate on behalf of working families,” Duckworth said. “I’d be honored to have her by my side in the Senate as we work to deliver real results for Illinoisans.”
Stratton described Duckworth as a “true leader for Illinois.”
“She exemplifies the kind of leadership working families deserve and spends every day looking for new opportunities to help communities across our states flourish. I’m so honored to have her support and I will work tirelessly to bring her spirit of resilience to this campaign,” Stratton said.
Governor J.B. Pritzker endorsed her at a rally in Chicago Friday. Durbin said he does not plan on endorsing anyone.
While Stratton is the only official candidate who has announced their run, more politicians are expected to come forward soon.
