SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The three young men who stood trial in August for the murder of Travis Edwards in 2021 will be sentenced this week.

A Chatham County jury convicted Terry Rucker, 20, and Harold Roberson, 21, of felony murder Aug. 25.

Their co-defendant, Vaquez Coleman, 20, was acquitted of all murder charges, only found guilty of a drug charge.

All three defendants were acquitted of the most serious charge, malice murder, a type of charge where the State needs to prove malice aforethought, indicating murder was premeditated.

The jury found the three young men, ages 16 and 17 at the time, attempted to commit a felony while meeting up with 20-year-old Travis Edwards at Bricktowne Flats apartments on May 13, 2021, and ended up killing him.

The State argued the men showed up to buy drugs from Edwards and killed him in an armed robbery.

Court documents show the three men will be sentenced on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m.

Coleman and Roberson still have a long road ahead in the criminal justice system.

In three weeks, the two will be co-defendants again alongside Joshua Reddick, 24, for the 2023 double murder of 16-year-old Semaj Floyd and 20-year-old Omarion Whitfield. They are alleged to have committed the double murder while out on bond awaiting trial for Edwards’ murder.
