In a significant legal development, Shawn Bolden has been found guilty of malice and felony murder by a Chatham County jury for the tragic death of Deanna Ellison in 2021, as announced by District Attorney Shalena Cook Jones.

This heartbreaking incident traces back to Mother’s Day in 2020 when Ellison, then three months pregnant, decided to leave Bolden after he allegedly slapped her for inviting her mother over for dinner. The situation took a devastating turn a year later when Bolden fatally shot Ellison in a brutal act witnessed by their 5-month-old child. The Medical Examiner reported to the jury that Ellison succumbed to 11 gunshot wounds.

Following the horrific event, law enforcement quickly issued a statewide alert for Bolden. The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) officers located him over 100 miles away on I-16, leading to a high-speed pursuit that ended with a successful PIT maneuver and Bolden’s arrest.

Beyond the murder charges, Bolden was also convicted of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. His sentencing is slated for January 9, marking a pivotal moment in this case.
