PANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A 41-year-old Shelby County man was arrested in Pana on Wednesday for methamphetamine and theft related charges.

The Pana Police Department said on Facebook that on July 23 at 5:21 p.m., Angel Stout of Tower Hill was arrested on preliminary charges of possessing less than five grams of meth, theft of over $500 and two counts of delivering of meth. Stout was then transported to the Christian County Correctional Center.

The following day, Christian County States Attorney John McWard filed a formal charge against Stout for unlawful delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of meth, a Class X Felony. A motion to deny Stout pretrial release was also filed.

A pretrial release detention hearing was held and Judge Brad Paisley denied Stout pretrial release. He will stay in custody pending future court appearances.

The arrest was made by the Central Illinois Enforcement Group (CIEG) Drug Task Force, a multi-jurisdictional narcotics unit led by the Illinois State Police. Members of the Pana Police Department and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office are assigned to this unit.

CIEG initiated a narcotics investigation into this incident a few weeks ago, Pana Police said, after receiving information of meth being trafficked into the City of Pana.
