MCINTOSH COUNTY, Ga. () — McIntosh County Sheriff Thornell “T.K.” King identified improper state tax charges on fuel purchases made by a third-party vendor.

According to a press release issued by the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office (MSCO), the charges were discovered during a routine review of agency expenditures and contracts.
The review found that over 130-thousand dollars in state taxes had been incorrectly applied to government fuel purchases in the years 2022, 2023 and 2024, despite government agencies being tax-exempt under Georgia law.
“The funds have been reimbursed and will be returned to the county’s general fund or reallocated to benefit public safety operation,” the release reads.
“This particular incident highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in all aspects of our operations,” said the sheriff.
