The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has launched an internal probe following an audit of body camera footage that highlighted potential issues with deputy conduct and adherence to standards.
According to Chief Lewis Blanchard, the behavior displayed by two deputies during the execution of a search warrant on December 16 fell short of the expectations outlined by Sheriff Eugene Brantley.
The concerns surfaced during an internal review of the footage captured during the search, prompting a formal investigation. As part of this inquiry, additional body cam footage is being scrutinized to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the events.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is committed to professionalism, transparency, and maintaining the trust of our community. Once the investigation is completed, which is anticipated by the first part of next week, we will share our findings with our media partners and the public.
We appreciate the community’s patience as this matter is reviewed and reaffirm our commitment to holding ourselves to the highest standards of conduct.
