A Hillsborough County deputy has been taken into custody on several felony charges following an alleged domestic violence incident, as reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, 45-year-old Brian Juliano was arrested by the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Juliano serves as a deputy within the patrol services division of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

“This arrest is extremely troubling and does not align with the standards we hold for our deputies,” stated Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Any conduct that breaches the law or undermines the community’s trust will be met with immediate and decisive action. We are committed to fully cooperating with the investigating agency.”

The charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred at 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Petersburg, according to the HCSO.

Detectives said Juliano was in a verbal and physical altercation with a woman. During the altercation, he threatened her with a firearm, preventing her from leaving the home or calling 911 for help.

Juliano is facing the following charges:

  • Armed kidnapping
  • Aggravated assault
  • Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
  • Tampering with a witness

According to HCSO, Juliano has been employed with the sheriff’s office since April 2020 and has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal and administrative investigation.
