In Springfield, Illinois, a human skull discovered in a local creek has prompted an investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office. The find was initially made on September 20th, but details were not shared with the public until Wednesday morning.

Coroner Jim Allmon released a statement indicating that the skull was located near Winterberry Lane within the Lake Pointe Apartments area. The coroner’s office was alerted to the discovery around 1 p.m. on the day it was found.
