ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-year-old faces charges after allegedly striking a man with his car and repeatedly running over his head before fleeing the scene, as reported by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, Jerrell Noah Jones was taken into custody in relation to the aggravated battery incident that occurred on September 16 on Silver Star Road near Belco Drive.
An arrest warrant affidavit reveals that a witness observed a man walking between her vehicle and a silver Dodge Dart, operated by Jones. At that moment, Jones reportedly turned the vehicle towards the man, hitting him and driving over his body.
The car then reversed over the man’s head, drove over it again, and reversed once more before leaving the area at high speed, deputies stated.
Authorities indicated that the victim sustained a fractured skull along with multiple brain bleeds due to the incident.

The sheriff’s office was able to identify the Dodge Dart through traffic cameras and obtained a search warrant, which was executed on Sept. 30 during a traffic stop.
According to the affidavit, deputies questioned Jones, his girlfriend and another person who was in the vehicle when the aggravated battery occurred.
The girlfriend told deputies that she believed Jones ran over the man intentionally, and when she asked him why he did it, he replied, “I thought he had something.”
The other person who was in the vehicle had searched on Google, “ways to cover up hit n run.” Text messages from that day were also deleted from their phone, according to the affidavit.
When Jones was interviewed, he denied ever seeing the victim and any involvement in hitting someone, the affidavit shows.
Deputies attempted to speak with the victim, but he appeared to have an “altered mental status,” the affidavit shows.
Jones faces a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
