Children ages 16, 14 and 10 in custody for Armed Robbery in Augusta on Thanksgiving

AUGUSTA, Ga. – On Thursday, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Sunoco Gas Station on Central Avenue.

According to police, the call came in at 3:06 p.m. about a robbery at the gas station on November 27. Upon arrival, deputies established a perimeter and apprehended three suspects, aged 16, 14, and 10, without any issues.

The RCSO confirmed that a handgun was recovered from the suspects during the incident.

Authorities stated that the suspects have been taken for questioning, and their parents have been informed. Charges are expected to be filed soon.

The sheriff’s office mentioned that more information will be shared as it becomes available, but some details will remain confidential since the suspects involved are minors.

Sheriff Eugene Brantley released a statement on the incident. It reads: “I am proud of the quick actions and teamwork shown by our deputies today, especially on Thanksgiving when many families are celebrating at home. Their dedication to serving this community does not take a day off. Because of their fast response we were able to take these suspects into custody safely and recover the firearm used in this incident. As a community we must continue working together to keep firearms out of the hands of juveniles and to ensure our streets remain safe for everyone.”
