(WDCW/NEXSTAR) – One person has been injured in a shooting on CIA property near the agency’s headquarters in McLean, Virginia, on Thursday morning.

Details remain limited; however, Fairfax County police said the shooting took place around 4 a.m. in the 900 block of Dolley Madison Boulevard.

A spokesperson for the CIA provided a statement confirming a “security incident” to Nexstar, but did not disclose additional information.

“There was a security incident that law enforcement responded to outside CIA Headquarters.  The main gate is currently closed until further notice.  Additional details will be made available as appropriate.”

Fairfax County police were directing traffic on Thursday amid an investigation by the CIA. No roads were closed, but drivers in the area were encouraged to adhere to police instructions.

This is a developing story.
