WINDSOR, S.C. – The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has announced a significant development in the case surrounding the disappearance and murder of John Belote, which took place on June 28, 2023, at an abandoned church located on Spring Branch Road in Windsor.
Authorities have apprehended 39-year-old Samuel Wade Wilson, a resident of Windsor, who now faces charges of murder. Wilson was taken into custody on March 24, 2026, and is being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
With Wilson’s arrest, the total number of individuals charged in connection with this case rises to six. The following is a list of the other suspects who have been arrested:

Belote was last seen by family on June 28, 2023 and reported missing to the Sheriff’s Office on
June 30th, 2023.
Human remains were located on the 300 block of Wendy Ln in Windsor on July
14th, 2023 and were later identified as John Belote.
