TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A small aircraft crashed Monday morning near Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, leading to nearby road closures and power disruptions, according to officials.
The plane went down along Columbia Boulevard, between Sisson Road and South Washington Avenue. Titusville police, fire rescue crews and other emergency responders were called to the scene, officials said.
Columbia Boulevard remains shut down in both directions while crews work in the area and investigate the crash. Police are urging drivers to avoid the stretch and use alternate routes.
People living or working near Sisson Road and Columbia Boulevard should be prepared for outages. Florida Power & Light cut electricity to that portion of the grid as a safety precaution.
Authorities have not confirmed whether anyone was injured. It also remains unclear whether the aircraft was taking off or attempting to land when the crash happened.
