SAVANNAH, Ga. — The SmartSenior program by St. Joseph’s/Candler has seen significant growth this year, reaching close to 2,000 senior participants throughout the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry regions.
The essence of the program was on full display at the SmartSenior holiday party held on Friday. Seniors gathered to enjoy dancing, share meals, and forge new friendships, embodying the program’s mission of promoting health and celebrating life in a communal setting.

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — St. Joseph’s/Candler’s SmartSenior program has continued to grow in 2025, serving nearly 2,000 seniors across Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
From laughing on the dance floor to sharing meals and making new friends, the SmartSenior holiday party Friday highlighted what the program is all about, keeping seniors healthy and celebrating life together.
The SmartSenior program is designed for those 55 and older who want to stay active, engaged and connected with others. The program offers members a bi-monthly newsletter, educational seminars and weekly activities including fitness classes, line dancing and Mahjong.
SmartSenior also hosts free health screenings, organizes food drives for the St. Mary’s Community Center and provides other resources aimed at keeping older adults active and engaged.
