SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The individual whom Savannah Police were trying to identify via social media in relation to the acid attack on December 10 has voluntarily met with investigators and has been cleared as a suspect, a spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday.

Following his meeting with the officers, the man was allowed to leave without any charges. The detectives were able to pursue new leads based on the information gathered from their discussion with him, according to a police representative.
On Sunday, a Savannah Police spokesperson emphasized that the man is “NOT” considered a suspect in the incident, despite rampant speculation about his involvement circulating on social media. His photograph was extensively shared by both officials and local news outlets.
