TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Steve Gaskins paid his solar company, Sunrun, $8,900 to remove his solar panels and reinstall them after his new roof was complete.

Nine months later, the panels were still sitting beside his home, and he said he was getting the runaround. He said he was told by the solar company that they are waiting on Pinellas County to approve the permit.

Tired of the runaround, he called Better Call Behnken for help. 8 On Your Side Consumer Investigator Shannon Behnken discovered the permit application was never even filed.

After Behnken contacted Sunrun and the county, things changed. The county expedited the permit, and Gaskins sent pictures of the panels back on his roof. He said the installation took only a day.

“Everything looks good,” Gaskins said. “I couldn’t be more happy with getting the solar back in action now. Thank you again for putting everything back in place and getting this chapter behind me.”
