COLUMBIA, S.C. () — The South Carolina women’s basketball team advanced to its 11th consecutive Sweet 16 after a 64-53 victory over Indiana in the second round of the NCAA tournament on March 23 at Colonial Life Arena.

After the first quarter, South Carolina trailed, 12-9. The No. 2 team in the tournament did not shoot the ball well in the opening 10 minutes. They were 4-for-17 and 1-for-2 from behind the arc.

In the second quarter, the defending national championships shot the ball better from the floor. They were 50 percent from the field (6-12), but so was Indiana. They also outscored the Hoosiers in the quarter, but only by two points. They trailed 26-25 at the break.

The last time South Carolina trailed at the half this season was on Feb. 16 when they lost to UConn at home.

The game changed at the beginning of the third quarter. South Carolina went on a 13-7 run. Chloe Kitts had seven of the team’s 13 points before the media timeout. For the period, USC outscored Indiana, 26-14, and led 51-40 headed into the final quarter.

South Carolina held pace in the fourth quarter to pick up the win.
