CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – SpaceX announced that it’s gearing up for its next Falcon 9 rocket launch from Florida’s Space Coast on Friday night.
In a release, company officials said the launch will send a communications satellite into orbit from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on behalf of the UAE-based company Yahsat.
According to Yahsat’s website, the satellite — dubbed “Thuraya 4″ — is actually set to be the sixth that the company will send into orbit, symbolizing “the nation’s relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in spacetech.”
The four-hour launch window is scheduled to open at 8:27 p.m., though a backup opportunity will be available on Saturday within the same timeframe if needed.

However, the 45th Weather Squadron’s forecast estimates a 5-20 percent risk of windy weather interfering with Friday’s launch attempt. Those chances fall to below 5 percent if pushed to Saturday.
Regardless, SpaceX has stated that the launch will constitute the 20th flight for the first-stage booster used in this mission, which was previously used to launch SES-22, ispace’s HAKUTO-R MISSION 1, Amazonas-6, CRS-27, Bandwagon-1, GSAT-20, and 13 Starlink missions.
News 6 will stream the launch live at the top of this story when it happens.
