SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office is offering people the chance to obtain a passport through a quick, convenient registration day on Saturday.
The Circuit Clerk’s Office is partnering VFW Post 755 to process applications at the post, which is located on 2211 Old Jacksonville Road. The registration day will take place from 9 a.m. to noon.
“VFW Post 755 is pleased to host this opportunity for our community,” said Josh Seed, commander of VFW Post 755. “We are excited to work with the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s office to offer this service on Saturday.”
Circuit Clerk Joe Roesch encouraged anyone in the Springfield area needing a passport to attend this event and to apply for one.
“We are pleased to partner with local government, banks and merchants to provide community outreach events,” Roesch said. “Through these events, we hope to make the process of applying for a passport more convenient for everyone.”
Applicants must bring the following to the VFW post:
- A certified copy of a birth certificate (no photocopies or hospital certificate)
- A valid photo ID
- An approved passport photo (photos can be taken at the VFW post)
- Certified copies of court orders for name changes, custody or adoption decrees
- Two checks or money orders to pay applicable fees
Anyone unable to attend this event can apply in person at the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
