SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – State Road 417 has reopened after a large law enforcement presence led to its partial closure Saturday afternoon over Lake Jesup in Seminole County, according to the sheriff’s office.

S.R. 417 northbound was shut down from State Road 434 to Lake Mary Boulevard, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said around 2 p.m. on social media.

In an update shared less than two hours later, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office clarified that the roadway was shut down due to a suicide investigation, adding the northbound lanes were expected to be closed for an extended period of time.

While there was said to be no threat to public safety, the post suggested that drivers seek alternate routes.

The sheriff’s office said all northbound lanes were reopened around 4:50 p.m.

Nothing further was shared or confirmed at the time of this report.

This is a developing story. Check back here for updates.

The Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is reachable 24/7 by dialing 988.
