AIKEN, S.C. () – This month, Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) has generously donated $5,000 to the Salvation Army, aiming to bolster their diverse initiatives and provide aid to individuals in need across the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).
SRMC highlighted that this contribution is directed towards enhancing the Salvation Army’s food distribution and emergency assistance services, which play a crucial role in supporting the community’s most vulnerable populations.
“Our collaboration with the Salvation Army is essential for aiding those experiencing difficulties in our area,” expressed Dr. Thomas Burns, Jr., the president and program manager at SRMC.
He further emphasized, “We have a duty to give back, and it is an honor to contribute to the Salvation Army’s significant endeavors.”
Beyond the financial support, SRMC leaders, including Dr. Burns, actively participated in the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign by ringing bells at the Walmart on Whiskey Road in Aiken, S.C., an initiative aimed at gathering additional donations to assist those in need during the festive season.
“It was important to us to take part in ringing the bell this year,” Burns said. “It’s a small, yet impactful way to engage our community and encourage others to contribute to this important cause.”
