SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The St. Andrew’s boys basketball team is on the cusp of winning its third state championship in four years.
The Lions come in at 25-3 overall. They have won 14 straight games.
For most of the playoffs they have cakewalked, but in the state semifinals, they faced their first real test against Lakeview. On Wednesday, St. Andrew’s was able to come out with a 45-43 win.
Earlier this season Sports asked Zayden Edwards what it would mean to win three titles in four years.
“Last year,” senior guard Zayden Edwards said, “we came up a little short losing in the Final Four. We have another shot at it this year. And I say always say to [Zion, Zayden’s older brother], if I get if I get three, he has two. It’s not much you can say.”
St. Andrew’s faces Brookwood, the top overall seed in the GIAA Class AAA bracket, on Feb. 28 at Columbus State at 8 p.m.
