ST. LOUIS, Mo. (WCIA) – Illinois football is gearing up for its third and final Illini-themed MLB game of the summer.
Illini Night at Busch Stadium in St. Louis is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25. Illinois football will send its four St. Louis natives to the Cardinals vs Cubs game.
Offensive lineman Brandon Henderson and Melvin Priestly, quarterback Carson Boyd and outside linebacker JoJo Hayden are expected to make the short drive southwest from Champaign for the game.
Illinois football adds two more to 2026 recruiting class
Priestly, Henderson and Hayden are all graduates of East St. Louis High School. Boyd, who enters his freshman year with Illinois, attended Cardinal Ritter.
Henderson will throw out a ceremonial first pitch, Illinois football announced on Friday.
Illinois head men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood, head women’s basketball coach Shauna Green and head football coach Bret Bielema were all featured at Illini Night at Wrigley Field.
Four Illinois football players, including starting quarterback Luke Altmyer, also attended the Cubs vs Brewers game on Tuesday.
Illinois defensive back Miles Scott threw out a ceremonial first pitch ahead of the White Sox game on May 20 for Illini Night at Rate Field. Outside linebacker Kenenna Odeluga joined Scott for that game.
Special ticket options for Wednesday’s Cubs at Cardinals game will feature an Illinois/Cardinals crossover hat.
