ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — The City of St. Petersburg has a brand-new feather in its cap after USA TODAY named a beloved dive the #1 local sports bar in the country.

Ferg’s Sports Bar & Grill was started by St. Pete native Mark Ferguson, who purchased an old Sunoco gas station in 1991 and began transforming it into a gathering place for the Gas Plant District.

The bar has exploded in size and popularity in the decades since, now boasting a 70,000-square-foot complex with over 100 TVs, an outdoor concert venue, a dog-friendly patio and park and plenty of space for private parties and events.

Ferg’s offers a menu full of gameday must-haves like wings, burgers, nachos and other classics as well as plenty of drinks to wash it all down.

In addition to watch parties for the Rays, Bucs and other local teams, Ferg’s often has live music and weekly special events like Open Jam Mic Night, Trivia Night, and tons of food and drink specials.

“We built this place to be St. Pete’s gathering spot — where friends, families, and fans can come together to celebrate, connect, and make memories,” owner Mark Ferguson said. “Being recognized as the #1 sports bar in the nation is an incredible honor and a testament to the amazing community that’s supported us for more than 30 years.”
