GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. () — The Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) has arrested a 25-year-old after a non-fatal stabbing incident.
According to GCPD, the Uniformed Patrol Division responded to the call of a stabbing victim who had been taken to a nearby hospital.
Officers determined that the stabbing took place at on Yorktown Drive and identified Juan Gabriel Gutierrez-Diaz as the suspect.
Gutierrez-Diaz fled the scene.
Detectives found Gutierrez-Diaz’s location through pinging his phone. Then, by way of a thermal-imaging drone, officers were able to locate the heat signature of two subjects hiding in the woods near Spur 25 and Walker Road.
Officers entered the wooded area and took both subjects into custody. After questioning at GCPD headquarters, Gutierrez-Diaz admitted to being involved in an altercation that led to him stabbing the victim.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and Possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of certain crimes. The second person was released without charges.
Gutierrez-Diaz was transported to the Glynn County Detention Center and released into the custody of detention staff.
The victim is currently in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
