Semi-truck fire briefly shuts down part of I-57 in Iroquois Co.

In the early hours on Thursday, a concerning incident unfolded on Interstate 57 near Arcola, Illinois. An Illinois State Police squad car was hit while a trooper was actively engaged in managing traffic flow for an earlier accident involving a commercial vehicle.

At approximately 5:50 a.m., the trooper had strategically parked across the northbound lanes, utilizing emergency lights to signal drivers to detour at milepost 203 toward IL 133. These measures were intended to mitigate risks following the initial crash.
