SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The core of the heat dome will make its way through our region over the next couple of days. We remain Weather Aware Sunday & Monday due to extreme heat.
A Heat Advisory is in effect through 10 AM Sunday, Extreme Heat Alerts take its place from 10 AM through 8 PM Monday. An Extreme Heat WARNING is in effect for all of Jasper, Beaufort, Chatham County and for coastal portions of Bryan, Liberty, and McIntosh County.
Further adjustments to heat alerts are expected later this evening and ahead of Sunday morning.

Regardless of the alert issued for your specific area, dangerous heat is expected with temperatures reaching triple-digits and oppressive humidity making temperatures feel like 110°-115° at times.

Prioritize time in a cool place with working air conditioning indoors above all else. If you have to be outside, make sure you are well-hydrated and wearing lightweight, loose, and reflective clothing.
Take frequent breaks indoors and keep an eye on yourself and others for signs of heat illness. If heat stroke sets in, immediate medical attention is crucial!
Monday will feature similar heat with an uptick in humidity. Heat stress accumulates over time so the same theme applies for the start of the week.

A Look Ahead
Temperatures gradually return closer to average as the week presses on. Storm chances are back Tuesday and more-typical heat, humidity, and daily rain chances persist through the week.

Tropics
The tropics remain quiet as strong trade winds and plenty of Saharan Dust are keeping the Western Atlantic Basin hostile to tropical development, despite some weak tropical waves east of the Caribbean.
