All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department. The fire department plans to use the funds to help pay off its building.
“Our other building was sinking a little bit, and so we couldn’t stay in it too long,” Stoney Creek Fire Chief Ken Arnold said. “And because the trucks were so heavy, it was causing some issues. And, we were fortunate to be able to build this building.”
The fire department’s new building is four years old, and the department still owes about $150,000 on it.
“This tournament it goes to support our building fund,” Arnold said. “We try to make a bigger event out of it every year. We’ll be coming out of Rat Branch, and hopefully we’ll have a good turnout.”
