GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison said the roof of the former Takoma Regional Hospital, which is now being renovated for county office space, was damaged during a line of storms overnight Friday.
The county purchased the building from Ballad Health in 2021 to use as office space and has since been renovating each floor to house the following departments:
- Floor 1: The registrar of deeds, the trustees’ office, and the county clerk
- Floor 2: Administration Office
- Floor 3: Sheriff’s Office
- Floor 4: Greene County Central Office
Morrison told News Channel 11 that while the storm didn’t damage any renovations happening inside the building, the weather did impact the facility’s roof.
Morrison noted that a metal hatch that was locked shut on the roof was blown open and nearly ripped from its hinges as a result of the storm.
He said a temporary fix has been put into place on the roof, which is the white tarp seen in the photos above, and contractors will be on scene Monday completing a permanent repair.
