SAVANNAH, Ga. () – A “heat dome” is setting up over the region this weekend and into Monday, driven by high pressure sitting just off the coast. This pattern is bringing in hot, humid air from the southwest, pushing high temperatures close to 100°F each day through Monday. With the added humidity, heat index values could reach up to 110°F.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for our coastal counties today from 11 AM to 8 PM. Additional advisories may be issued for Sunday and Monday as the dangerous heat persists.

Unfortunately, relief will be limited. Winds will remain light, and there’s only a small chance of stray showers or thunderstorms during the afternoon hours each day through Monday.

Heat Safety Tips:

  • Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water
  • Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing
  • Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat
  • Never leave children or pets in a parked car, even briefly
  • Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can develop quickly in these conditions—take this heat seriously.

Looking ahead, relief is on the way! A cold front will approach on Tuesday, bringing increased chances for rain and a noticeable drop in temperatures. Highs will fall into the low to mid 90s on Tuesday, then settle into the upper 80s to low 90s from Wednesday through Friday as the front stalls to our south.
