SAVANNAH, Ga. — As rain tapers off overnight, Savannah residents can expect a brisk Thursday before the weather gradually shifts in the days ahead.

Wednesday saw a damp and chilly day, courtesy of a sluggish cold front. Areas west of I-95 experienced consistent rainfall throughout the day, while coastal regions encountered intermittent showers by the afternoon.

Overnight, the rain will clear out, making way for cooler temperatures to usher in Thursday. Although some sunshine will break through, the day will remain chilly, with temperatures peaking only in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Friday morning will greet most of the region with freezing temperatures, including a hard freeze west of I-95. However, abundant sunshine will help temperatures climb, reaching afternoon highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

As the weekend approaches and into the following week, a gradual warming trend is on the horizon, accompanied by relatively calm weather conditions. Mornings will consistently see temperatures returning to the 40s, while some areas may enjoy afternoon highs nearing the 70s.
