SAVANNAH, Ga. () – A stationary front is sitting over the region today, which will lead to increasing chances for rain and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, and again tomorrow during the same timeframe. Rain chances remain fairly high heading into the weekend, with more scattered showers and storms expected into the start of the work week.
For both today and tomorrow, there’s a slight risk for excessive rainfall, which could bring the potential for some localized flooding. There’s also a slight risk for strong to severe storms later today, especially around sunset, with damaging winds being the main concern.
The upside is that the rain and cloud cover will help keep temperatures down. As this front lingers throughout the week, we’re looking at a cooler and wetter pattern overall. Highs should stay in the mid to upper 80s for the first part of the week, then rise slightly into the upper 80s to low 90s later in the week.
