SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Rain dominated the early portion of Saturday, but dry time returns for Sunday and Labor Day.
Areas of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry picked up one to two inches of rain, with locally higher amounts. Some localized street flooding took place in typical trouble spots but overall, this was not like recent rain events.

An area of low pressure developing offshore has helped elevate winds out of the northeast. Expect breezy conditions at times Sunday and with that, our waters will have a Small Craft Advisory in effect through Tuesday.
Sunday and especially Labor Day will feature more dry time. Mostly cloudy skies and a 30% chance of passing showers are expected Sunday, and 20% rain chances for Monday.
Guidance generally has rain chances around sunrise Sunday, and another round of passing showers during the afternoon and evening.
Labor Day will feature slim rain chances, mainly south of I-16. Dry air working into the area thanks to more-established northeasterly winds will take an edge off the humidity and even help more sunshine break out.
Temperatures will gradually return closer to average by the end of the week. Slim rain chances on Tuesday give way to 30% rain chances for Wednesday and Thursday as a weak cold front moves through the area.
The weak cold front will bring a drop in humidity, leading to more sunshine and hotter afternoon temperatures.
The tropics remain quiet for our intents and purposes. A tropical wave is expected to move off the coast of Africa over the next 24 hours. The National Hurricane Center is giving it a 30% chance of development over the next seven days.
Overall conditions across the Atlantic Basin are not hospitable for strong tropical development. Wind shear and dry air continue to limit thunderstorm activity for any system that emerges off of Africa.
There are no tropical threats to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry at this time.
