SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Get ready for another frosty night before changes usher in a new weather pattern for Sunday and the upcoming week.

Friday delivered a significant drop in temperatures, plunging below freezing in inland areas, with the official low at Savannah Airport hitting 33°. Daytime highs struggled to climb beyond the 50s, falling over 10° below the seasonal norm.

A Freeze Warning is issued for Appling, Bacon, Jeff Davis, and Wayne County, effective from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Residents should take precautions to safeguard pets, plants, and outdoor pipes, while ensuring everyone stays warm. Most regions west of I-95 can expect freezing temperatures overnight.

Saturday morning will begin with a chill, but temperatures will swiftly rise to the 50s by midday. The sky will feature a mix of clouds, with a breeze blowing from the northeast.

By Sunday, conditions will be more moderate, with morning lows climbing closer to the 40s, marking a return to near-average temperatures. The afternoon promises warmth, reaching into the 70s for many areas. Though a few showers might precede an approaching cold front, the day should largely remain dry.

The front will stall to our south, and an area of low pressure will form on its tail end. Isolated showers are expected Monday, with rain chances increasing by Monday night.

Based on current guidance, a batch of rain and embedded storms will move through the area late Monday night through Tuesday afternoon.

Exact timing will become clearer over the weekend. Rainfall totals will also depend on where low-pressure forms and its exact track through the region. Either way, beneficial rain will be appreciated given our drought situation.

A reinforcing cold front will move through the area by Tuesday night. Temperatures will cool down in its wake, with chilly mornings and cool afternoons for the middle of next week.
