SAVANNAH, Ga. — Residents in Savannah enjoyed a warm and sunny afternoon on Monday, with temperatures soaring into the mid to upper 70s across the region.

As the week progresses, these unseasonably warm conditions are expected to persist through Tuesday and Wednesday. However, a cold front is on the horizon, promising cooler weather by Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, just in time for holiday shopping.

Tuesday will kick off with partly cloudy skies and cool morning lows ranging from the mid to upper 50s. There is a possibility of some patchy fog developing early on.

As the day unfolds, skies will turn partly to mostly cloudy, with a slim chance of scattered showers. Despite the clouds, temperatures will rise to the upper 70s and could even touch the lower 80s.

On Wednesday, the morning begins on a mild note, with temperatures starting in the upper 50s to lower 60s. As the day progresses, temperatures are expected to climb again into the upper 70s and lower 80s, right before a cold front moves through the southeast, bringing cooler air by the afternoon.

While this same system will produce a few strong to severe storms to our west, severe weather is not anticipated in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.

A few isolated showers or storms are possible along the front. Conditions will become breezy as the cold front moves through the region.

Rainfall amounts will be less than 0.10″ for most of the area, while locally heavier amounts are possible.

Much colder air will filter into the southeast by early Thanksgiving Day. Morning lows will be in the mid 40s. The afternoon will only warm into the lower to middle 60s, even with a mainly sunny sky.

Friday will be a chilly day for shopping. Morning lows will be just above freezing for most of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. Conditions will remain chilly with highs in the lower to middle 50s.

Saturday morning will again be very cold with low temperatures just above freezing. However, afternoon conditions will become a milder again with highs returning to the 60s.

Sunday and Monday of next week will be even warmer with highs returning to the upper 60s to lower 70s ahead of the next system that will bring a few showers and storms to the area.
