SAVANNAH, Ga. — After a dry spell, the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry can look forward to some much-needed rain as the upcoming weather system arrives late Monday night, continuing into Tuesday morning.

Currently positioned over the lower Mississippi River valley, a frontal boundary accompanied by a trough of low pressure is poised to channel substantial Gulf moisture toward the southeastern region.
This atmospheric setup is likely to bring intermittent heavy rain from Monday night into Tuesday morning, with anticipated rainfall amounts ranging between 1 to 2 inches across much of the area.

Though severe thunderstorms are not forecasted, Tuesday is expected to be windy, with occasional gusts adding a brisk touch to the day.
Temperatures on Tuesday are predicted to reach the low to mid-60s, offering a mild backdrop to the rainy weather.
Cooler and drier air will filter into the southeast after the rain moves off the coast early Tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday and Thursday will be partly cloudy and cool with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
A second system will begin to approach the region on Friday. More heavy rain is possible Friday through Saturday. Rainfall totals again will be 1-2″.

Temperatures on Friday and into the weekend will remain below normal due to the overcast sky and widespread rain.
Highs will only warm into the mid and upper 50s on Friday and Saturday. Sunday will warm into the lower 60s as conditions begin to dry out again.
