In Savannah, Georgia, Tuesday unfolded with a delightful blend of sunshine and cool breezes, offering a pleasant day for residents of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. As the morning dawned, temperatures dipped into the chilly teens and twenties, as had been anticipated.

However, the afternoon brought a pleasant surprise, with the sun shining brightly and ushering in warmth. Temperatures climbed into the upper 50s to lower 60s, setting the stage for even warmer afternoons in the days ahead.

Looking to Wednesday, the day is expected to begin under partly cloudy skies, with morning temperatures hovering in the lower to middle 30s. As the day progresses, the mercury is set to rise to more seasonal highs in the mid-60s, albeit under a mostly cloudy canopy.

On Thursday, a cold front is projected to sweep through the region. Ahead of its arrival, residents should prepare for intermittent showers throughout the day. Rainfall is forecasted to range from 0.10 to 0.50 inches across much of the area.

Despite these showers, the anticipated precipitation will likely fall short of alleviating the ongoing drought conditions, which continue to pose challenges for the region.

High temperatures Thursday afternoon will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Temperatures behind the cold front on Friday and Saturday will be close to normal in the mid 60s since the air will be originating from over the Pacific Ocean.

Sunday will be a warmer day with highs back in the upper 60s to lower 70s for the first day of winter.

The winter solstice happens at 10:03 a.m. as the sun’s direct rays reach the Tropic of Capricorn in the southern hemisphere, leading to the shortest day of the year with respect to the amount of daylight.

Next week will start out with temperatures above normal in the mid 60s on Monday. Conditions will become even warmer throughout the week.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day both look to be partly sunny and very warm. Highs will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s both afternoons.

There is a slight chance for a few spotty showers next week with a mix of clouds and sunshine. However, most locations will miss out on rainfall all together.
