SAVANNAH, Ga. – As dawn breaks over Savannah, a thick blanket of fog envelops the city, with morning temperatures settling comfortably in the 60s. However, as the mist dissipates later today, expect a glorious burst of afternoon sunshine to usher in unseasonably warm conditions, with temperatures soaring into the low to mid-80s. This spike puts the mercury 10 to 15 degrees above what is typically expected this time of year.

Don’t forget, tonight we “spring forward” as Daylight Saving Time begins, nudging the clocks an hour ahead.

The weekend is set to maintain this unusual warmth, with temperatures climbing into the mid-80s by Sunday. A cold front is edging closer to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, but it won’t push through, which might trigger a few scattered showers or thunderstorms both Sunday and into Monday.
With the front lingering nearby but not passing through, the region will continue to bask in warmth. Monday’s temperatures are predicted to reach the low 80s again, and by Tuesday, the forecast hints at mid to even upper 80s, flirting with possible record highs for early March.

As we head into Wednesday, the mercury will hover in the mid-80s, but things are set to change by Thursday. A new cold front is expected to sweep through, offering another chance for isolated showers and storms. This front will finally bring cooler air, nudging temperatures back to more seasonal norms, with highs dipping to the low 70s by the week’s end.
