SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Friday afternoon was cloudy with a few spotty showers. Temperatures as a result stayed cooler than normal in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
More rain and mild temperatures are in the forecast for Labor Day Weekend.

A storm system moving through the Southeast will help focus moisture across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. A wave of showers with a few embedded storms is expected Saturday afternoon and into the evening. Some rain will be heavy at times.
The deepest moisture will gradually move out of the area for Sunday and Labor Day itself. Expect more dry time and scattered showers with temperatures staying in the mid 80s.
A drier and somewhat warmer pattern will set up for the short workweek. Temperatures rebound closer to average in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Rain chances will drop off to 20-30%.
It is possible that rain chances will drop off all together for late next week.

TRACKING THE TROPICS
In the tropics, there will be a tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa late this weekend. The National Hurricane Center is giving it a 30% chance of development as of Friday evening.
The environment supports slow development as it moves west-northwestward across the Atlantic.
There is no threat to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry at this time.
