SAVANNAH, Ga. — Residents can expect a significant drop in temperatures as a cold front sweeps across the region, just in time for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Eve was unseasonably warm, with temperatures soaring into the upper 70s. While a few showers touched the southern parts of the area, most remained dry throughout the day.

As Thanksgiving Day dawns, expect a noticeable chill in the air. Morning temperatures will plummet by 20 degrees, starting in the 30s and 40s. However, the sun will break through, offering an afternoon with highs only reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s. A brisk northwest wind will add to the festive winter feel.

Black Friday will see even cooler conditions. Except for the Sea Islands, most areas will face freezing temperatures, with wind chills making it feel like the teens and twenties. Early morning shoppers should prepare to bundle up against the cold.

Daytime temperatures will struggle to climb beyond the low-to-mid 50s, marking a notable 15-degree drop below the seasonal average.

Saturday will bring another cold start and a chilly afternoon under lots of sunshine. The warm-up will take place to close out the weekend, with temperatures returning to average on Sunday.

An area of low-pressure next week will bring our next opportunity for rain chances. This system will develop in the Gulf and eventually track through our region.

At this point, we can expect scattered rain for Monday and Tuesday. Finer details regarding rainfall totals and storm potential will become clearer by this weekend.
