SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Rain has moved in and will stick around for a lot of Saturday.

An area of low pressure moving along a stalled frontal boundary will help focus moisture and rain chances across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry. Scattered rain gives way to numerous areas of rain and storms by midday.

Expect rain and storms to gradually wind down by this evening and dry time by sunset. Temperatures will be mild to start Sunday, and more dry time is expected compared to today. Scattered showers and a rumble of thunder or two are possible for the afternoon.

Labor Day will feature a 30% chance of showers and storms. Be sure to have backup indoor plans but dry time will dominate.

The abbreviated work week brings back sunshine and typical showers and storms. Wednesday will have a slightly higher chance of storms as a disturbance moves through the region. Temperatures will return closer to average with warm and muggy mornings, and hot and humid afternoons in the upper-80s to lower-90s by the end of the week.

The tropics continue to be quiet for our area. A tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa will track near the Cabo Verde islands early next week. The National Hurricane Center is giving it a 30% chance of developing into a tropical depression or named storm over the next week.

The environment over the Tropical Atlantic Ocean is not conducive for rapid or strong development thanks to near-average water temperatures, dry air, and areas of wind shear. We are nearing the peak of the season, but there are still six weeks of peak activity remaining.

There are currently no tropical threats for the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
