The new week started out with a quiet weather pattern.

High pressure moved in over the weekend brought in direr air at the surface which led to comfortable conditions, despite highs still reaching the mid and upper 80s.

Weatherwise, a similar day is expected for Tuesday.

A mainly sunny sky will set up again with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. We can expect a strong onshore wind throughout the day with gusts over 20 mph.

Tuesday’s sky will have a hazy appearance due to Canadian wildfire smoke that has been drifting into the southeastern United States. Air quality may be an issue for people with severe respiratory issues.

Rain and storm chances will make a return on Wednesday and will continue through Friday from an area of disorganized clouds over Florida. This system will drift northward over the coming days as it becomes a little more organized.

As the area of low pressure moves over the warm waters of the Gulf Stream, the National Hurricane Center has highlighted it for potential tropical development. The overall development risk is low (10%) over the next five days.

Regardless of any tropical development, this system will bring heavy rain to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Rainfall totals will be over 1-2″, especially near the coast.

A drier pattern will return in time for the weekend along with temperatures back in the lower 90s for highs.
