SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Following a record-tying high of 89 degrees yesterday, a dry cold front is sweeping through this morning, resulting in more cloud cover and dropping temperatures throughout the day. Morning highs will start in the upper 60s to lower 70s, but expect a steady decline into the low to mid-60s by the afternoon, with temperatures plunging into the 40s overnight.

This weather shift will also bring gusty winds, blowing from the northeast at speeds of up to 30 mph. Given the severe drought conditions, a Red Flag Warning is in effect from 8 AM to 8 PM. The mix of dry air and strong winds elevates the fire risk, particularly west of I-95, where fires could spread swiftly.

Windy conditions will persist into Sunday with temperatures slightly rising to around 70 degrees. The fire risk will remain high. By Monday, winds will start to subside, and temperatures will rebound to the mid-70s.

Looking forward, a warmer trend is set for the rest of the week, with highs reaching the low 80s and overnight temperatures in the low 60s. A stationary front to our north and west will increase moisture levels, bringing the possibility of scattered showers from Tuesday through Friday.
