SAVANNAH, Ga. — Residents can prepare for a notable shift in weather as warmer temperatures and rainfall are predicted for the coming week.
The region experienced another frosty start on Saturday morning, though temperatures gradually climbed into the 50s for many areas. Despite this, a northeast breeze combined with cloud cover maintained a lingering chill in the air.
By Sunday morning, the weather will take a warmer turn with temperatures expected to rise into the 40s. As the day progresses, the mercury is likely to reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy, and there is a 20% chance of brief showers in the afternoon and evening. However, most of the day should remain largely dry.

Looking ahead to late Sunday evening, a cold front is set to move across the area. The most significant aspect of this front will be a developing low-pressure system at its southern end. This storm formation in the Gulf is set to usher in unsettled weather as the new week begins.
On Monday, expect slightly cooler temperatures alongside increased cloud cover. While the day will generally stay dry, rain chances will rise by the afternoon and evening. The low-pressure system will contribute to more extensive rainfall from late Monday into the first half of Tuesday.

Tuesday will bring rain and a few storms for a lot of the area. Rainfall rates will be manageable so do not expect widespread flooding concerns. Some areas that drain poorly may find issues but most will find rainfall totals of an inch or so. Thankfully, it does not look like severe storms are expected.
Rain will end by Tuesday afternoon or evening, and a cold front moving through the area will bring chilly temperatures back for the middle of the week. There are signals for a more active pattern with another storm system by next weekend and the usual cool-season La Niña cycle of storm systems, chilly weather and frequent warm spells.
