StormTeam 3: Intense weekend heat with very little heat relief
Share and Follow

Hi there! Storm Team 3 Meteorologist Alysa Carsley here – let’s have a fabulous Friday!

Friday will be hot with highs in the mid-90s. Heat index values climb to around 105° this afternoon. Isolated showers will be possible today across the area. As high pressure moves westward towards the East Coast, it will push some moisture onshore. This will keep a few storms along the sea breeze through the afternoon and evening.

Through the weekend, high pressure will sit across the area. This will dry us out, but heat things up. High temperatures will climb into the upper 90s with a few communities reaching the triple digits – without the heat index. Once you add in the humidity, you can really see how dangerous and intense the heat over the weekend will be. Feel like temperatures will be over 110° at times through at least Monday.

This heat will easily wear you down. The heat index is how the heat feels to your body. So remember, the higher the head index due to high humidity, the harder it is for your body to cool off. Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks. Limit your time outside and enjoy the air conditioning or at least the shade. The best time to be outside will be in the morning hours. It will still be muggy, but at least a bit safer compared to the dangerous, intense afternoon heat.

By the middle of next week, expect rain chances to increase. This will help the intense heat to back of,f with high temperatures returning to near average in the lower 90s.
